Composer Tatiana Stankovych

Born and raised  in Svaliava (Ukraine), Stankovych already at the age of 19 began teaching piano at the State School of Music in Ukraine where she refined the Ukrainian teaching method, considered one of the best in the world. Her first piano teacher was her mother Vira Povidaychyk who did the master class with well known ukrainian pianists Emil Gilels and Sviatoslav Richter.

In 2002 she moved to Rome continuing her activity as a musician by teaching at various institutes and accompanying instrumentalists and singers. She perfected her studies in Florence with Prof. Valentina Berman. Since then she has worked as a piano teacher at various institutes, including public ones, in Latina.

 

Since she was a girl, Stankovych began to be interested in jazz harmonies, deepening compositional research always aimed at identifying a new way to express her sensibility. Meanwhile, she writes music for the theatre, after having also gained experience in the field of theatre improvisation. She has performed as a piano soloist in important halls in Rome such as Palazzo Barberini, Castel Sant'Angelo and the National Museum of Musical Instruments.

 

After intensifying her activity as a composer in search of her own compositional style, in 2018 Stankovych composes pieces  that will take part of  a new album "Fairy Wave".

On 9 June , 2018, her first collection was released which combines classical music and jazz, the CD "Fairy Wave" is made for piano only as a composer and performer.

 

On 16 April 2019 the collection of "Improvvisi romantici" was published, a work in the classical genre.

2020 is a particularly prolific year for Stankovych's creativity, in fact she composes "Awakening", "Giochi d'Infanzia" and "Perdutamente Noi" which are included in the collection "Percorsi Infiniti" distributed on all digital stores and finds positive feedback especially in Japan.

In 2021 Stankovych is already at work with Nocturnes for cello and piano, as soon as she has concluded the "Piano Narrations".

In 2022 Tatiana releases albums "Flying Dove on Ukraine" which includes instrumental music ,  "Le Stagioni" a work in the classical genre for piano and "Joyousness" which combines classical music and jazz.

In 2023  Stankovych composes Fantasy for orchestra "Chestnut trees of Kyiv in bloom" and op.9 "Alla ricerca del clavicembalo perduto".

 

Through the publication of the scores on well-known digital library such as IMSLP Petrucci Library and MusicaNeo, Stankovych's pieces are also appreciated in Europe, in the United States and in Canada, where some conservatory teachers have employed her pieces for the educational program and for concerts.

In 2022 her compositions were performed in some European conservatories and in the United States, The Sunderman Conservatory of Music in Pennsylvania (USA) included her in a list of classical composers, even combining her with composers of universal fame such as Frederic Chopin , Antonin Dvorak and Bela Bartok. 

 

Finally, at the beginning of 2023 the composer's pieces were performed during the celebration of 8 March in the  famous Royal Conservatory of Madrid.

On 5th October, 2023 compositions by Tatiana Stankovych were performed in the context of "Music week Festival" of Goldsmiths University of London where students of Music Department performed four-hands pieces by Leopold Godowsky and Tatiana Stankovych.

On 1st December 2023 in Portugal compositions by Tatiana Stankovych, Daniel Shvetz, Étienne Crausaz and Franz Schubert were performed during the concert at the Algarve Regional Conservatory in Faro conducted by Maestro Martim Sousa Tavares.

On 10th December 2023 within the "Vie delle scene" in the concert “The journey of the six strings. The guitar through the centuries" by Maestro Nicola Galeotti (Italy) were performed the compositions of:

On May 2024 Tatiana Stankovych composes "Unstoppable Wind of Freedom" for woodwind quartet dedicated to Rowan Froh (flute), Glenda Lindgren (oboe), Zachary Senick (bassoon), Allie Harrington (clarinet). On May and June of 2024 harpsichordist, organist and pianist Stephen Reiss performed Tatiana Stankovych's compositions on Juist Island (Germany). The program included compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach and Tatiana Stankovych.

​

On 24th August 2024 composition 'Adelina' for flute, clarinet and piano by Tatiana Stankovych was performed in Poland by Trio Flava. The program included compositions by Francis Poulenc, Camille Saint-Saens, Astor Piazzolla.

 

From 2025 Tatiana Stankovych is included in the list of composers of the Ukrainian Chamber Music Encyclopedia
